  2. This is my friend Levi.

Some know him as Levi The Poet.

I first met him last Summer when some friends of mine were throwing a Bar BQ. Levi was in town from Albuquerque doing Re:Train. I had heard some of his work when I lived back in Florida, enjoyed it, but didn’t recognize him for his work until later on.

I was able to meet up with him this past Thursday for a couple hours when he was in Capitol Hill for XXXCHURCH’s “Porn Kills” tour. We spent close to an hour in Cafe Vita discussing the ideas of lasting community, theology, growing roots while being a touring artist, the death of his father, how the church has become family, and normal day to day life in both our lives.

My original idea was to write a short piece on some of our conversation. After our time together, I decided it would be better to put it out in a video and allow for Levi to use his own words to tell his story.
I have about 50 minutes of both video and audio from our time together on the hill and driving through the city. In the next few days, I will be editing and posting it in a video.

Thankful for the time I got to spend with this dude this past week. Encouraged and humbled by his willingness to simply serve others and share the gospel through his art.

He recently released and album called Seasons. Go check out his work at Levithepoet.net

    Enjoy

  4. Megan.

Megan is a dear friend of mine who I met in April of 2012. She was one of the girls who lived in what was “The Anteroom” in Cap Hill (See past blogs for photos I did with them). I’m thankful for her as she has become one of my best friends and another one that I consider to be like family. I’ve watched as the Lord has grown her in unexplainable ways and also used her to teach me what it means to simply love someone as a sister and as a daughter of God. Something I really didn’t have much knowledge of before this friendship.

A couple weeks ago we went to Country Village in Bothell for a couple hours. I manged to lose most of the photos I took that day… So again, we went back this past week and explored with a few other close friends.

Stoked to see what the Lord continues to do with this lady.

    Enjoy.

  8. I really can’t begin to say enough about this band. I’ve been listening to them for about two years or so now. They have put out some of the most well put together worship records I’ve ever heard.

I’ve been listening to their latest record “O Ransomed Son” on repeat for the last week now. If you get a chance go give it a listen. It is so spirit filled and altogether a great album.

Did I mention it’s free? Go get on it!

  9. 4 Corners

Recently for my Art’s history class I was assigned to capture one subject at four different times of the day to depict four different types of weather.

We were allowed to use any type of medium.

I took a series of photos of the view from my front porch. Edited them in lightroom and then had my friend Mitchell piece them together in photoshop.

    Enjoy.

  10. Robert Ayers III

    Bobert.

    Or just Bobby.

I met Bobby at the beginning of 2010 when he came to my community group on Capitol Hill. I’m not gonna lie I found this guy kind of strange at first but eventually he grew on me. I would see him on and off over the next few months around at Bauhaus or on occasion at community group. Eventually he started coming over to our house for parties and other various activities and began to hang out with the other roommates and I more.

Bobby is originally from Michigan but grew up in Utah. He moved to Kent, WA in September of 2010 and in January of 2012 moved into our house as he wanted to get involved more at mars hill and live in capitol hill since he was always hanging out here. Bobby currently works concierge at a local retirement home and is taking a couple classes at Seattle Central. He is fascinated by all forms of literature and strives to one day be a published writer.

It’s always encouraging to talk with Bobby because he more than anyone in the house can relate to my desire to want to write and share stories with people. I’m glad to have this guy living with us. He has definitely been a huge encouragement in pushing me to write more and get my stories out on paper. I’ve also truly enjoyed watching him grow over this past year. The Lord has really changed his heart in many ways. I’m stoked to see him continue to grow and be used here on Capitol Hill for the glory of Jesus whether it be through writing, going to school, or just simply living on the hill.

P.s. These photos were taken last Saturday around Capitol Hill in various places: Elliot bay books, Odd Fellows, Cal Anderson.
